Project Overview

This project is an AI-driven application designed to promote sustainable consumer behavior through grocery shopping analysis. The system extracts data from scanned grocery receipts using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and maps each item to sustainability metrics such as carbon footprint, sourcing practices, and packaging impact.

By processing and interpreting this data, the application generates a sustainability score for each shopping trip and identifies areas for improvement. It also provides feedback and recommendations for more sustainable alternatives, helping users understand the environmental implications of their purchasing habits.

The project integrates technologies such as computer vision for text extraction, natural language processing for item classification, and a sustainability data model to assess environmental impact. The broader goal is to use data-driven insights to influence consumer awareness and promote environmentally responsible consumption.
